Bristol is a vibrant cultural hub in the South West of England, the largest city in the South West of England, and the 11th most populated city in the UK. A hotspot not only for music but also theatre, cinema and technology. It was named the most musical city in the UK in 2010, based on the number of musicians that have been born in the city relative to its whole population.

It is famous for bands like Massive Attack and Portishead, pioneers of the Trip Hop sound that developed through the 90s and home of Drum and Bass. It has a flowing musical network with different sectors: from the 2000 auditorium Bristol Beacon auditorium to the litlle room in the top floor of the Miners Arms in the neighbourhood of Saint Werburghs, that hosted the Presence Open Mic a few years ago, learning institutions like the BIMM and Db schools, iconic shops like Electric Ladyland or Heron Music, each one of this elements is a block in the structured music scene of the city of Bristol.

And not just that, there are many pubs and bars that hold live music nights several days a week and some have something on every single day, all year round, the Gallimaufry, the greatly missed Leftbank, the Louisiana, the Exchange, or Mr. Wolf’s, where I did my first live recordings circa 2010.

Most of these recordings were done using one of the alt outputs of either a Allen&Heath PA20 or ZED 22FX, using hardly any gates, compressors or effects, and saved to an SD card using a TASCAM DR-680. Things have leaped forward and my most recent recordings are saved to a USB stick using a digital desk with all the trimmings, usually an X32/M32.

Here’s an ongoing list of videos and audios I have accumulated over the years:
